Ayo Ft. Chany – Castaway

6 08 2011

Castaway is AYO’s 2nd release this year featuring  Chany. Directed by Rik Argent.

Castaway is a metaphor for the struggles of  figuring out one’s  destiny and life’s opportunities. It is also the  play on the fact of  getting away from urban society. Casting your mind and self away from the rigours of daily existence. And getting  to a place where you  can reflect, begin and  embark on your true personal journey.

A different approach was taken with Castaway, in that  the video idea came before the song.  AYO says

I was killing time with Rik (the video director), before my studio session with Chany.  We had an idea to shoot a video in open spaces and on a deserted  beach. When Chany came to  studio, we came up with the concept, wrote and recorded the whole song that night. Sent it  to Rik and shot the video the following week’.

AYO is the multi-talented producer, rapper and songwriter hailing from Hackney, who is fast becoming a much sought-after producer/songwriter by UK and international acts. In 2010/11 alone, he has already written, produced and remixed tracks for the likes of  Jason Derulo, Professor Green, Wretch 32, Aggro Santos, Ironik, J2K, Jessica Lowndes, and Boy George, to name but a few. He is also undertaking writing sessions for a number of independent record labels and publishing companies.

Being a self contained artist in his own right, AYO is currently working on his debut album,  that is set to be released early next year. He will also be releasing his second Producer EP, as well as a collaboration EP with J2K yet to be named, very soon!
