:: Hot City – Go Bang EP

11 03 2011

Fresh from appearing on the cover of DJ magazine at the end of last year, dance music mavericks, Hot City return with new EP ‘Go Bang’ out April4th on Moshi Moshi Records.

Since their last release – ‘Twist’ / ‘Lonely Boy’ the in demand production duo have been busy remixing Robyn, Hot Chip, Cock’n’Bull kid, Kicks Like a Mule, Bobmo, Count &Sinden, Crookers & Kelis. In addition they have been DJing all over the world, notably at Cream Amnesia / Ibiza, DJ Mag party with Kyle Hall & Floating Points, XLR8R’s recent party in NYC’s Williamsburg and dates at both Annie Mac Presents and Bugged Out across the UK.

Opener and title track ‘Go Bang’ sees the duo push their sound forward. This is big-room house music which will appeal to all kinds of DJ’s and clubbers and is already a favourite with the DJ glitterati including Annie Mac. Hearing tracks like ‘Girl I Know’ you’ll realise why people hail Hot City as the rave revivalists, an epic mix up of UK funky with big basslines and deep grooves. ‘Going Down’ is a slamming percussive club track and bringing up the rear, ‘Work the Box’ mixes huge hooks, jumpy synths and exploding two-step rhythms.

Hot City are just as happy playing next to garage legends Ramsay & Fen as next to the intricate dubstep scientists Spatial. Similarly their tunes will mix into Todd Terry or Cooly G, Basement Jaxx or Brackles, 2 Bad Mice or – if you’re that way inclined – 2 Unlimited.  Ultimately it all flows to and from the same place: the dancefloor. As the old voice echoing through the years says, “house is a feeling” – well Hot City is a feeling too, and when that feeling hits, you’ll know it and you’ll want to track down the source..
